Spring 2026 Bucket List and Goals - UPDATE

Hello, dollies!!  I am settled into my recliner after a busy day.  Had breakfast with 2 teacher friends, worked in the yard, then cleaned the upstairs and did a little ironing.  At 4:00 we were headed over the mountain to meet the kids for Lucia's gifted and talented presentation.  The kids were asked to make a travel slide show for a place they would like to visit.  Cia chose Pensacola because we are all going there for the first time this coming July.  She did a great job and found lots of yummy looking restaurant for us to try as well as some fun activities like visiting a graffiti bridge and a turtle sanctuary.  We are looking forward to exploring some of the places she discovered. We are well into spring so I figured I had better have a look at my spring bucket list and goals to see how I am faring.   Spring 2026 Bucket List This is the progress I've made so far on the fun activities I am hoping to accomplish before the season's end. A - Z Blogging Challenge 04.13.2026

Hey friends, it is Saturday night and I am determined to get a couple of A - Z Blogging Challenge posts written ahead so next week I don't feel so rushed.  By my count I have written 10 of the 26 required posts - one for each letter of the alphabet.  Today's post, 04.11.2026, was about a glimmer or little blessing in my life that begins with the letter J.  You can read about my experience with jury duty, here.

Thankful that we get Sundays off from the challenge.  Last week, I had forgotten I didn't need to write a post on Sunday and quickly put something together.  But then skipped writing on Monday which worked great because it was my birthday.

Tomorrow, I may not publish a post but I am going to be trying to get a couple of posts written for later in the week.  Today, which will be Monday when this goes live, I am sharing a glimmer that starts with the letter K.

K is for Kitties

To be perfectly honest, I am probably a little more of a pup person than a kitty person.  But don't tell my kitties.  PC and I said goodbye to our last dog about 12 years ago.  I hope to have another pup someday but for now we happily have 2 very loveable kitties, Purrsnickitty and Purrcival.

Our kitties are little blessings to both of us.  We often call them the babies or the children.  When we wake up in the morning, I will open our bedroom door so they can come into our room and start the day with us.  Purrcy generally wants to go out on the balcony to check the weather but Snick hops onto the bed and snuggles with us.

The kitties bring us much joy:
  • they provide us with company
  • they welcome us when we come home - especially Purrcy - by meeting us at the door
  • both will curl up with us when we watch TV, especially on winter evenings when they are cold
  • our kitties make us laugh - chasing each other, playing with a number of different toys we have around the house, catching flies, begging for their dinner by sitting in front of their empty food bowls and meowing loudly

  • Snick likes to lie across my scrapbooking when I am crafting, she tries to bite at my pen when I am writing, and stretches out between me and my books when I am reading

  • Purrcy drapes himself across me like a throw blanket or stole wherever I am sitting

Taking Care of Mama

Both Purrsnickitty and Purrcival do these funny little things that I have decided are their way of taking care of me.

I have had 2 cervical spine surgeries and a parathyroidectomy all utilizing the same incision in my neck.  As a result, I have some neck pain and discomfort.  Purrsnickitty likes to 'milk' my neck with her paws - I have heard this called 'making biscuits.'  She gently massages the left side of my neck with her paws while lying beside me.

Purrcival likes to lie down beside me to nibble my neck in the same spot where Snicky kneads me.  He doesn't bite me but just kind of snuffles around my neck and shoulder.

I have read that cats' kneading and purring has a healing power.  Since both kitties are massaging/nibbling me in the same spot on the same side of my neck, I think there is something to that.  Not sure how they know that my neck is a source of discomfort for me but I appreciate their sweet care.  How precious that they are worried about me and trying to make me feel better.

As I type this, Purrcy is stretched across my stomach between me and my laptop.  My left arm is resting on his back so my hand can reach the keyboard.  Now and then, Purrcy stretches out a paw and hits 'CAPS LOCK' and all of a sudden I will begin typing in caps.  He will move back and forth from this position to a basket on the end table all night.  Snick is curled up on a fluffy bed on the floor in front of the fireplace.  She just raised her head a second to take stock of where everyone is before returning to her prebedtime nap.  My sweet babies.

Your Turn

Do you have some fur babies that are little glimmers in your life?  Are you more of a kitty or puppy person?  Don't animals just add a special joy to every day?  I know our kitties sure do.

I think it might be time for ice cream.  Weighed today and the scales were very kind.  Not sure how that happened.  But seems like a great reason for celebration.
Thank you for visiting today.  I appreciate your friendship.

Hugs and kisses,

  1. Isn't it amazing how much joy pets can bring to our lives?? There are days that I really would like another pup...but I slap myself before I do something crazy (like start searching PetFinder or some such!) Your kitties are sweet!! Happy Monday to you, my friend. I hope you have a great week!

    1. Thank you!! Yes, our pets are family. I would like a dog but someday. We still have much traveling we want to do and it wouldn't be fair to the pup. One of our kitties is 13 so she is a senior citizen. But Purrcy is only a couple of years old. He will be around awhile. PC will probably talk me into getting him a playmate when the time comes.

  2. That’s so sweet! Last year I lost my precious kitty Gatsby (grey and white tuxie) and still miss him. He was quite a character! Now I have my darling little Inky, who is a doll of a black cat with a few white sprinkles. Kitties are the best! 😻😻

    1. Oh, my what cute names you gave your kitties. Gatsby!! Love it. And the book and movies. Is Inky lonely now that Gatsby has crossed the Rainbow Bridge? Are kitties are quite a number of years apart, one being 13 years old. I think the other will be very lonely when he is by himself.

    1. Your pup is adorable. I know he was a bit rambunctious when you first got him but he is such fun. Dog-walking is a great benefit of dog ownership. But occasionally there were days where I just didn't feel like walking our dogs. Now I miss that activity.

  4. Pets definitely add a lot to our lives. We have always had a dog (I"m allergic to cats) and I think animals fill spaces in our homes we don't know are there until our pets are gone. I do think kittens are cute and am glad you have some to love.

    1. Thank you. When I am really missing our dogs, I go across the mountain to love on my grandpups. I think the temperament of the kitties suits us in this chapter of life. We all enjoyed a grand nap together today.

  5. You’re doing amazing with the A–Z Challenge, and I love that you’re capturing these small glimmers in your life. Your sweet kitties are such perfect K‑day blessings. The way they comfort you, entertain you, and weave themselves into your routines is just beautiful. It made me think about how my pets do the same thing!

    1. Awww, thank you for cheering me on. Can't believe we still have half the month of this challenge to go. But I will get there.
Our pets do add so much to our lives, don't they? I am already dreading having to leave ours for our vacation next week. Who watches your pups when you are on one of your delicious cruises?
