The World Through My Lens 05.2026

Sweet shutterbugs, thank you for popping by today. Bringing you this month's photos taken for the 2 photo challenges I am participating in this year. They are The Everyday Images challenge hosted by my friend Kym at A Fresh Cup of Coffee and Sunday Stills, hosted by my friend Terri at Second Wind Leisure Perspectives .  These gals share their photos several times a month but I can't seem to get my photo challenge posts together more often than once a month. You can find the April edition of The World Through My Lens, here , if you missed it.   Everyday Images  Love that this challenge features prompts for...well, everyday things. I try to find ways to put those everyday things in their 'best light' because I want my photos to be pretty. Sometimes that is difficult but this month, I found many of the prompts among the beauty of London and Edinburgh .  Everyday Images #87 Saturday scenery:   this was Saturday, 05.02.2026.  We were on our way back to Edin...

A - Z Blogging Challenge 04.30.2026

I MADE IT!! Whew!! We are finally to the Z of the A - Z Blogging Challenge. And let me say - again - this has been quite challenge for sure. Especially since the last 3 posts have been typed on my itsy bitsy phone.

But we are here!

We all know the 26th and final letter of the alphabet is Z. But what begins with Z that could be a glimmer in my life? Zebras are cute but I don't have much interaction with them. Zippers are fine but I am rather partial to buttons but this isn't a fashion post.

Well, we all know that this challenge has zapped my energy. I have zilch, zero, nada left to give - for now.  But I do have a zillion little blessings in my life and want to share a few glimmers that graced my life today.

Z is for Zenith

This is my zenith post, my culminating post on glimmers. I am glad I did this challenge because some of crazy kinds of things I described in yesterday's post, happened today. And when I was sure it was going to be a 'bad day,' things kind of turned around. And I genuinely think that was because of glimmers. Because I started looking for the good in the bad. Or the blessings that came from a rocky start to the day.

When we left off yesterday, PC and I were exhausted after having walked 20+K steps all over London. We set the alarm for 6:15 am, I wrote a very short blog post for letter Y and we went to bed.

We were both up some in the night. Me with the usual bathroom business. But Paul woke up and didn't go back to sleep for an hour. When the alarm rang, I suggested we sleep a few more minutes since we didn't have to be anywhere until 10 am.

The nightstand was on PC's side of the bed, so he fiddled with the alarm on my phone and we were soon back to sleep.

Next thing we knew, something awakened PC - thank goodness - as it was now 8:35 am.  He had not reset the alarm!! And we needed to be out the door by 9 am to reach the station by 10 for our train to Scotland. Talk about scrambling around. And in that 200 square foot hotel room, we were dancing on top of each other trying to get ready.

Enter the Glimmers

  • we showered, dressed and got down the 3 flights of stairs to the lobby in less than 30 minutes
  • check out was a flash
  • the sun was shining for the 4th day in a row
  • we sailed down the street to the Tube Station, the Tube pulled up immediately
  • went straight from the Tube to the train station
  • I bought waters and pastries and was given a free cloth bag that we can use for dirty clothes
  • we were in seats 33 and 34 (3 is the best number)
  • I was able to nap on the train
  • we stepped off the train and rounded the corner to our hotel (PC did a great job planning everything)
  • the code to the hotel door had a #3
  • the code to our room had a #3
  • we walked looking for somewhere for dinner and happened onto a quaint area of town
  • found a bookstore and library
  • then enjoyed a tour featuring tales of the dark history of Edinburgh
And because we were well rested and blessed with 2 extra hours of sleep, we were able to get 12+K steps today.

PC is already asleep beside me. The walking on top of his jet lag have him worn out every evening.  I am going to finish this post, figure out my clothes for our trip to Loch Ness tomorrow, and call it a day. But it has been a good, good day.

Your Turn

In this trip we have popped into book stores and libraries when we have come across them. Yesterday, I happened on the book photographed below which served as a reminder that glimmers can be found anywhere.

And I've seen reminders of my favorite children's book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland in each bookstore.

Books are major glimmers in my life. Even found 3 coins on my first day in London. Huge glimmer to me. I believe God sends pennies to remind me He is always here with me.

So, it has been a month of reflection on some of my favorite little blessings.  Hope when the inevitable gray clouds 🌧️ pop up again, I can remember the glimmers and rays of ☀️ sunshine I have in my life. I hope somehow my posts will have helped you to recognize glimmers in your own life.

Thanks for staying the course with me and helping me get to Z. We did it!!

Hugs and kisses,
Leslie

  6. Ok, you had me laughing so hard how you said you 2 were dancing around that tiny hotel room in your 30 minutes to get ready and out the door. Ha ha!! I can just imagine how that must have been! At least you got some extra sleep. Jet lag and all that walking in Europe is touch. I am worried how the teens will do for their first Europe trip this summer!
