A - Z Blogging Challenge 04.27.2026

Girls, I am writing this post a few days ahead of the date it will publish in hopes of successfully completing the A - Z Blogging Challenge even though we are off on vacation on its very last days.  This challenge has been just that...a challenge.  But I am so close to finishing that I can't give up now.

As I am typing this, it is 04.22.2026, Wednesday but today's post will go live on the following Monday, 04.27.2026.  And on that day, I hope to be in LONDON!!  Hob-knobbing, of course, with đź‘‘Charles, Camilla, Kate and Williamđź‘‘and the other 9 million Londoners.

Today's post is the 23rd post in my series on glimmers or little blessings in my life.  I got the idea for my A - Z theme from this post I wrote for the Where Bloggers Live series I participate in each month.  A couple of times over the last month I have kind of meandered off the beaten path but I am just proud to have written a post for every day.

W is for Writing

About 4 years ago, I decided we needed to be more active or more involved in things at our church.  I signed up to volunteer for the food pantry and to help up with the church's major holiday food and toy giveaways.  About that same time, there was a drive to encourage folks to join the small groups the church sponsored.  There were groups for parishioners of various ages, marital statuses, and interests.  PC and I agreed to sample a meeting of the Let's Write group. On Valentine's evening 2023, we met the other members of the group at Whole Foods.  The group was celebrating its first anniversary about the time we joined.  We have now been members for over 3 years.

Let's Write

Let's Write has been a glimmer in my life in several ways.  First and most obvious, I am writing more.  And have finished one children's 'picture book' and one children's 'chapter book' since joining the group.  One of the other members, Denise, and I have become accountability partners and hold each other's feet to the fire or pens to the paper or fingers to the keyboard.  I found this Creative Writing for Women Small Group (CWFWSG) accountability workbook online, here, and we have been using these worksheets to guide our accountability sessions. The accountability helps keep me honest!!  But so do the bi-weekly Let's Write meetings hosted these days in Dick and Denise's home.

The focus of our meetings has evolved in the last year to include very helpful writing lessons prepared and presented by our leader, Dick.  And we usually write to a prompt which has become PC's baby - he finds the best prompts, usually photos that we write about.  This year, we have all begun reading something we have written aloud to the group at almost every meeting.  And Denise prepares a scrumptious dinner almost every meeting unless we have agreed to do the cooking for a change.

For our St. Patrick's Day meeting in March, Dick and Denise went all out with a delicious Irish-inspired dinner and we all wore green - except PC who was quick to share that he was drinking out of a green glass.

Writers and Friends

The group membership fluctuates and we have seen a couple of members come and go.  The core group is small, really only 6 of us.  Which has enabled us to become better friends.  And at the end of each meeting, Denise solicits prayer requests and praises from each of us and we spend a few moments in prayer for one another.  Prayers that we have so often seen answered.  Denise and Marisela, another group member, have become real prayer warriors over my life.  And friends.

You might remember, PC and I attended a Sip-n-Paint event for Valentine's Day.  We went with Dick and Denise.  And early this month we all 4 hiked the Dripping Springs Trail in NM.

Each meeting of Let's Write and each time we get together for some other activity have been glimmers in my life.  I am thankful to be writing beside Paul and my friends.  I am excited to be writing on a regular basis.  And hopeful that my writing efforts will culminate in a self-published children's book or two I can pass along to my daughters and grandchildren someday in the future.

Your Turn

Do you belong to a group outside of your family unit that is a blessing in your life?  Are you a group-joiner?  I am generally not.  More of a loner or a stay-at-homer.  But this group experience has been different from some of the others I have had.  Glad PC and I took a chance and stepped outside our comfort zone to check out Let's Write.

Debating whether or not to take a laptop or Chromebook on my trip.  If I don't, I won't be writing anything on my blog during that time because trying to do so on my phone would be a technological nightmare for me.  Still packing and unpacking my suitcase as of today, Wednesday and we are flying out Saturday.  Hope I can finally settle on what to take and feel good about it.

Thank you for your friendship and visit.  Have a week full of glimmers!!

Hugs and kisses,
